DMC is currently looking for a Mechanic Apprentice in our Sudbury mine sites. Reporting to the Mechanical supervisor, the Mechanic Apprentice will be responsible for performing basic repairs, ordering parts, and taking inventory. you will also be involved in equipment repairs, preventative maintenance and troubleshooting the equipment on site such Jumbo drills, concrete pump, Trans mixers, forklifts, telehandlers and utility equipment. As the mechanic apprentice, you will be working under our experienced Heavy Duty Mechanics to learn the trade and advance your career.

 

Responsiblities:

 

•    Receive, clarify as required, and follow daily lineups 
•    Select, check, maintain and use proper PPE 
•    Know and use lockout procedures and apparatus
•    Perform initial checks of workplace and equipment following the 5-point safety system and complete appropriate checklists. Continue to use this system throughout the shift
•    Safe and efficient preparation of the worksite and equipment before work commences
•    Maintain good housekeeping and observance of all safety and health and environmental regulations throughout shift
•    Maintain an adequate supply of tools
•    Perform maintenance duties in accordance with skills and abilities, while seeking to improve those skills under proper leadership and guidance
•    Work cooperatively under the leadership of qualified personnel and supervision
•    Ensure that all direct reports in the workplace take responsibility for aspects of Occupational Health, Safety and Environment over which they have control including adherence to all OHS&E requirements applicable to DMC Mining Services
•    Perform any other reasonable job tasks as requested by supervision

 

Qualifications:

 

•    Secondary Diploma or Equivalent
•    Membership in an authorized mechanical apprenticeship program
•    Minimum 2 years’ experience in an industrial or mining environment
•    Safe work record
