QMED

 

Reports To:  Reports to the Chief Engineer, with a functional reporting line to the Watchkeeping Engineer

 

Location:  Offshore   

 

BASIC FUNCTION:

 

DUTIES: 

 

1

Execution of watch keeping duties in the engine room.

I

 

2

Maintenance of deck and / or engine room equipment oil levels.

I

 

3

Maintaining clean work areas and equipment, clean machinery areas under the control of the Watchkeeping Engineer.

I

Assisting Engineers during repairs and maintenance of equipment.

II

 

5

Performing other mechanical duties as directed by the Watchkeeping Engineer.

I

Performing emergency duties in accordance with the vessel’s Muster List / Station Bill.

I

Ensuring that his daily activities and the activities of other crew members are carried out in a safe and healthy manner and that the impact of such activities on the environment is within acceptable limits.

I

 

 

Complete other duties and/or projects as required and assigned by management.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Education:  The QMED shall be qualified in accordance with STCW 95 Regulation III/4.


Experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience as motorman, preferably on an offshore marine
vessel.

Special Requirements:  Additional requirements are contained the Vessel Qualifications & Training Matrix appropriate to each vessel.

 

Innovation:  The QMED has the authority to stop ANY activity on the grounds of immediate safety, health and environmental hazards. 

 

Decision Making:  The QMED co-ordinates with any persons necessary for the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.
