Description

LTS is seeking a Communications Analyst, Legislative Affairs in Washington, D.C. to support a project with the Department of Veterans Affairs. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serve on a team of communications professionals and develop subject matter expertise within the federal IT environment, specifically Legislative process and Congressional relations.
  • Assist in communicating the client’s current events, accomplishments, and personnel changes to oversight bodies through a number of mechanisms, including the development of executive leadership messaging, Congressional hearing preparatory materials, and responses to official Questions for the Record.
  • Work with senior level executives to understand their priorities and assist with communicating progress toward organizational goals to Congress and other oversight bodies.
  • Proactively build and manage relationships with key stakeholders across a range of levels and business functions.
  • Demonstrate excellent writing skills, with the ability to synthesize information from multiple sources, translate complicated issues into a clear point of view, and create a compelling, concise and well-written narrative. 
  • Adhere to team quality assurance measures and lead review of deliverables within your purview to ensure high-quality, error-free materials. 
  • Develop detailed measurement plan for each communication initiative and campaign. 
  • Provide leadership for a communication team serving a government client.
  • Identify opportunities and deliver results independent of supervision.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of communication strategies, tactics and means of measuring results, and track changes and trends over time
  • Work closely with government client and team to ensure schedule and objectives are met and exceeded.
  • Hone interpersonal, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Attention to detail and deliver against client timelines.
  • Participate in business development opportunities.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Ability to work closely with a range of individuals with diverse interests, backgrounds, dispositions, and executive levels is essential;
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and multiple projects under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, professionalism and leadership skills are essential.
  • Strong strategy development, writing, editing, and proofreading skills are essential, including ability to present concepts verbally.
  • Must possess excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Superior project management and time management skills.
  • Self-motivated with a positive and professional approach to management.
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships with other cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors or Advanced Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, English or Business is preferred.
  • 5-7 years of Communications experience.
  • Capitol Hill experience, congressional affairs, or government relations experience preferred;

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
