Description

LTS is looking for a full time Cloud Engineer for our McLean, VA. location. 

**Required Clearance: TS/SCI Full Scope**

 

INTRODUCTION

The Sponsor requires data and infrastructure engineering support for the migration of legacy data, the development of new system capabilities, and enhancements for multiple mission applications in the Sponsor’s cloud computing environment. The Sponsor needs polished data engineering skills in extract, transform, and load (ETL) techniques for migrating legacy system data into a newly developed mission application system in a cloud computing environment. The Sponsor also needs polished infrastructure engineering skills in system and infrastructure development to support their Next-Generation Systems in a cloud computing environment. The Sponsor Project Manager (PM) will direct the program priorities as Sponsor objectives change. The core hours for all positions not otherwise identified shall be 9:00AM – 3:00PM. Weekend or after-hours support may be required for operational issues, deployments and critical activities.

 

WORK REQUIREMENTS

Data Engineering

  • The Candidate shall work within the core hours of 9:00AM-3:00PM.
  • The Candidate shall provide weekend or after hours support for operational issues, deployments, and critical activities when required.
  • The Candidate shall evaluate, format and maintain data from multiple sources.
  • The Candidate shall develop and manage data processing workflows in customer pipeline.
  • The Candidate shall evaluate, extract and process System and Event Logs.
  • The Candidate shall develop and maintain processing pipelines and documentation.
  • The Candidate shall assist with identifying, securing, and verifying incoming dataset types.
  • The Candidate shall identify and implement Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) and Open Source Data Enhancement capabilities.
  • The Candidate shall code scripts and software modules on an as needed basis to efficiently triage and convert datasets that arrive in non-standard formats to fit a de-normalized row and column data model.
  • The Candidate shall be responsible for storing, standardizing, extracting, referencing, and validating data.

 

Infrastructure Engineering

  • The Candidate shall work within the core hours of 9:00AM-3:00PM.
  • The Candidate shall provide weekend or after hours support for operational issues, deployments, and critical activities when required.
  • The Candidate shall evaluate requirements and develop system infrastructure.
  • The Candidate shall evaluate workflows, and system components to develop automated services, and maintenance automations.
  • The Candidate shall develop and manage Cloud Components and Services.
  • The Candidate shall maintain Git repositories, and ensure development is documented and version controlled.
  • The Candidate shall assist with managing and securely moving data.
  • The Candidate shall access system and processing logs for troubleshooting issues.
  • The Candidate shall develop and maintain common services to support a number of Hosted Applications

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND DEMONSTRATED EXPERIENCE

The Candidate shall have the following required skills, certifications and demonstrated experience:

 

Data Engineering

  • Demonstrated experience utilizing big data processing technologies such as Spark, Pyspark, and Java.
  • Demonstrated experience data mapping, extraction, transformation and loading.
  • Demonstrated experience building analytic reports in tools such as CloudWatch and Kibana.
  • Demonstrated experience processing and converting of OS and Data Logs into reports and metrics Dashboards.
  • Demonstrated experience with Regular Expressions (RegEx).
  • Demonstrated experience with SQL, MySQL, PostgresSQL.
  • Demonstrated experience with Data file type processing XML, JSON.
  • Demonstrated experience with IDEs and Data Modeling through Notebooks and Visual Basic.
  • Demonstrated experience ETL’ing data from disparate structured & unstructured data formats into enriched, query-friendly structured data in indexed files.
  • Demonstrated experience performing extensive data review and data quality analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience developing ETL design documentation including source and target mapping and data dictionary information.

 

Infrastructure Engineering

  • Demonstrated experience utilizing JENKINS, Application Registry and Configuration Management.
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing Cloudformation and Yaml Scripts.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing system dashboards for monitoring system jobs and performance.
  • Demonstrated experience hosting and supporting COTS and Government off the Shelf (GOTS) Applications.
  • Demonstrated experience with middleware services.
  • Demonstrated experience with S3, SQS, SNS, Lambda, EC2s and DynamoDB.
  • Demonstrated experience with developing Application and Query Services.
  • Demonstrated experience with hardening system infrastructure to support varying levels of data sensitivity.

 

HIGHLY DESIRED SKILLS AND DEMONSTRATED EXPERIENCE

Skills and demonstrated experiences that are highly desired but not required to perform the work include:

 

Data Engineering

  • Demonstrated experience utilizing Cloud services such as lambda, SNS, SQS, or EC2.
  • Demonstrated experience with DevOps tools to include CloudWatch, Lambda, SQS, and Dynamo.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Elastic, ElasticSearch, Logstash, and Kibana (ELK stack).

 

Infrastructure Engineering

  • Demonstrated experience utilizing Cloud services such as lambda, SNS, SQS, or EC2.
  • Demonstrated experience with Spark, Python, Apache, and Nginx.
  • Demonstrated experience working with API’s, CloudWatch, and ELK stack.
