LTS is seeking experienced full-time Registered Nurse (RN) to work in a school setting for the 2024-2025 school year for the Franklin Township, NJ public schools. Nursing services will be provided for the transportation of special needs students on the school bus to and from various placement schools, both in and out of the district. All services will be on an as needed basis.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Deliver on written orders of the medical home and standing orders of the school physician.
- Conduct health screenings (i.e., height, weight, blood pressure, hearing, vision, and scoliosis), monitor vital signs and general health status for emergent issues for students suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and controlled dangerous.
- Document and maintain student health records.
- Advise the school principal of students who should not be admitted or retained in the school building based on a parent’s failure to provide evidence of the child’s immunization records.
- Perform annual reviews of student immunization records to confirm with the medical home that the medical condition for the exception from immunization continues to be applicable.
- Advise the school principal on exclusion of students who show evidence of communicable disease.
- Direct and supervise the emergency administration of epinephrine and glucagon and train school staff designated to serve as delegates.
- Administer asthma medication through use of a nebulizer.
- Direct and supervise the health services activities of any school staff to whom the certified school nurse has delegated a nursing task.
- Provide classroom instruction in areas related to health education.
- Review and summarize available health and medical information regarding the student and create a summary of relevant health and medical information to the child study.
- Create, document, and update individualized emergency and health care plans for the student’s medical needs on a regular basis, instructing staff as necessary.
- Create, document, and update healthcare provisions for any student who requires them.
- Assist with the development and implementation of healthcare procedures for students in the event of an emergency.
- Provide emergency care to the students who are injured or become ill at school, on a school vehicle or during school activities.
- Supervision of students who are in need of immediate care and coordinate with the principal on notification to parents as needed.
- Education and provide guidance to teachers on communicable disease and other health concerns
- Review completed health history update questionnaires and share with the school athletic trainer for review, if applicable.
- Provide other nursing services consistent with the nurse’s educational services certification endorsement as a school nurse issued by the State Board of Examiners and current license approved by the State Board of Nursing.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- H.S. Diploma with 2+ years of experience working in schools or a similar setting.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- NJ School Nurse Certification
- Must possess a current NJ RN License
- Current CPR for Healthcare Provider Certification (copy to be provided)
- Certified School Nurse (Required)
