The Scoop:

The Director of Specialty Clinical Services develops and promotes the overall goals, objectives and strategies for the organization’s specialty clinical strategy, oversees MedImpact’s specialty programs, ensuring excellent clinical care for members and responsible financial expenditure for clients. This role also provides clinical specialty thought leadership to MedImpact Clinical and Health Services teams, Account Management, Sales and Marketing, and others.

 

What You Get To Do:

·         Provide strategic direction for the organization’s specialty clinical solutions, develop and execute specialty solutions, department goals and objectives

·         Analyze industry and competitive solutions to ensure relevant clinical specialty product development to demonstrate MedImpact value, differentiation, and improved efficiency; support strategic positioning of MedImpact’s current and future programs across the organization, and prioritize products and services to achieve greatest value to clients and prospects

·         Provide management to business unit and direct reports including administer business unit policies, business processes, and quality standards

·         Ensure adherence to corporate policies and procedures; and ensure succession planning and ongoing development programs are in place

·         Additional management duties of direct reports include hiring, training and development, mentoring and coaching, performance evaluation, merit review, and employee discipline, including terminations

·         Assign duties and responsibilities and projects to staff members

·         Responsible for timely production of clinical specialty solution implementation, outcomes and case studies, including proposal design and development through presentation and clinical product conceptualization to design, enterprise vetting and development for market readiness and client adoption

·         Apply product development processes to ensure product readiness

·         Continually seek ideal integration points and direct application of specialty clinical solutions and analytics to product development efforts

·         Represent the Clinical Solutions Strategy & Development team by establishing and maintaining relationships with key departmental leaders to ensure successful interdepartmental interactions across the enterprise

·         Participate and collaborate in cross-departmental programs and product efforts aimed at generating additional revenue and/or improvement in client services

·         Participate and/or organize capability presentations for current or prospective clients.  Develop relationships with key industry leaders and professional contacts

·         Creates and operationally manages project teams to deliver and meet project timeliness

·         Leads sessions to document business application needs, deliverables and develop analyses on problem areas for proper resolution

·         Able to act as a liaison between functional work areas to develop consensus on project and product deliverables and monitors timeline(s) or identified problem areas as required

·         Works through problem areas and assists with project or product implementation

·         Works collaboratively with colleagues within MedImpact and MedImpact Direct Specialty (MIDS) to provide thought leadership on the clinical and financial impact of existing and new specialty medications for internal programs and processes, such as Pipeline Reporting, Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee, Formulary, Prior Authorization, Clinical Programs, Rebate Programs and others as needed

·         Support clients directly or through Account Management as the clinical specialty program subject matter expert

·         Responsible for training internal and external partners on MedImpact’s specialty clinical programs

·         Collaborates with and provides guidance to the MIDS Team, outlining key clinical areas and data elements where reporting will assist clients understand and control their specialty spend, including but not limited to: Clinical dispensing data, High-Cost Specialty Claims, and standard and customized client specialty clinical reporting

·         Support the Fraud Waste and Abuse team on issues around the proper use of specialty medications

·         Support marketing of MedImpact’s services, expertise and value through publications in trade related journals and/or presentation at national level seminars or conventions

·         Support sales efforts as needed during Request for Proposal (RFP) process including responses to RFPs for the sales cycle through Best and Final preparation and presentations

·         Serve as contributing writer to MedImpact publications regarding specialty clinical outcomes, pharmacy or health policy and benefit topics, or other related topics for internal or external audiences

·         Attends and presents at sales and finalist meetings representing specialty management programs and services

·         In conjunction with Marketing, develops materials that demonstrate the value of MedImpact’s specialty clinical program offerings to differentiate MedImpact in the marketplace for all lines of business

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

Will manage the Enterprise Specialty Clinical Services team.  Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the unit. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Supports and enforces all company policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner, taking corrective action whenever necessary.

 

Education and/or Experience

For consideration candidates will need:

·         A PharmD required with at least five (5) years of experience in specialty pharmacy, or a PBM, assessing specialty drug therapies or similar responsibilities required; or a Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in pharmaceutical sciences or a related field, with ten (10) years of experience in specialty pharmacy and/or managed care developing clinical support programs

·         Strong working knowledge of specialty pharmacy from an operational and clinical perspective

·         Knowledge and experience in specialty pharmacy program management is required

·         Demonstrated experience in assessing new drug therapies and interpreting clinical trials and their outcomes

 

Computer Skills

Intermediate to advanced skill set in MS Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Outlook. Familiarity with pharmacy patient care management systems and clinical data is a plus. 

 

 

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Current valid Registered Pharmacist license in at least one U.S. State is required. Board certification by the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties of the American Pharmaceutical Association is desirable.

 

Other Skills and Abilities

Ability to interact with executive management and all other levels of employees to strategize and develop new products and services.

 

Demonstrated experience in assessing new drug therapies and interpreting clinical trials and their outcomes. Must have the skills to present the findings from the Drug Information team to MedImpact and MedImpact Direct to capture the impact of all new specialty therapies in terms of clinical outcomes, financial impact and patient support programs that would be appropriate. Demonstrated skill to use PubMed and other resources to help the team understand the nuances of any specialty therapy. Ability to balance clinical value with the cost associated with that therapy.

 

Outstanding presentation skills in all settings from small groups to large audiences. 

Demonstrated ability to manage successful teams.

 

 

 

Travel

This position requires up to 25% domestic travel.
