Summary:
DMC is currently looking for Heavy Duty Mechanics to join our team on a contract basis, based in Sudbury, ON. The Heavy Duty Mechanic will be responsible for the execution of equipment repairs (both surface and underground), preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting equipment on site. Knowledge of fixed plant and shaft sinking equipment is an asset.
Responsibilities:
• Perform quality maintenance work as directed by their supervisor.
• Follow company policies and procedures.
• Understand occupational health and safety act regulation 854 Mines and Mining Plants.
• Understand the operation of diagnostic equipment and measuring tools, reading and interpreting results.
• Inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot equipment as required in compliance with OEM standards.
• Be able to read procedures and prints as part of the diagnostic process provided by OEM.
• Be able to read electrical and hydraulic prints.
• Record all defective items on equipment and supply parts listing as per DMC work order procedures.
• Must follow standard safety operating procedures.
• Demonstrate commitment to the continued improvement of Health, Safety and Environment.
• Have a complete personal basic trade tool inventory of recognized quality.
• Ensure that all direct reports in the workplace take responsibility for aspects of Occupational Health, Safety and Environment over which they have control including adherence to all OHS&E requirements applicable to DMC Mining Services.
• Other related duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge:
• Ontario Secondary School Diploma is a preferred asset.
• Post-Secondary Education in Heavy Duty Equipment Technician/Techniques is an asset.
• Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic Certificate/License or Equivalent is a preferred asset.
• Prove competency through in-house training and testing.
• 3 to 5 years of underground experience.
• Experience working on various equipment and machinery (both underground and surface) is an asset.
• Must be reliable and self-motivated with a good work ethic.
• Must be experienced and comfortable working at heights.
• Welding & fabrication experience is an asset but not required.
• Hoist experience is an asset but not required.
Additional Information:
• We are hiring to fill an existing vacancy.
• Hourly Range is expected to be between $20 to $28 CAD + hourly incentive bonus.
