Job Title: Combatant Claims Analyst

Salary Range: $75-80k 

Position Summary
This is a remote role in the National Capital Region (NCR). The client is located at the Washington Navy Yard (WNY) and onsite presence may be required for initial training and ad hoc for key meetings. A Secret clearance is required. This role supports the Department of Navy (DON) Manpower & Reserve Affairs (M&RA) in administration of benefits for veteran warfighters. In this role the candidate would process Barring Act Waiver (BAW) claims.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Provide support for the processing and tracking of BAW(31 U.S.C. 3702):  

  • Including preparing waiver packages 
  • Coordinating and reviewing supporting documentation 
  • Maintaining files and communicating with other Department of Defense Agencies and Congressional and Senatorial Offices of Constituent Affairs in order to obtain information about the claim or contact the constituent regarding the status or outcome of the claim

•Support the overall management of BAW to include submission reviews, processing claims, and tracking for the Department of the Navy. Work will involve the coordination with stakeholders such as Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS).l and acquisition information and possess the capability to provide a visual display tool to access information

•Develop process improvements for the BAW program.


Education & Experience Requirements
Education:
   •Bachelor's Degree

Clearance: •All candidates must possess a minimum of a Secret clearance. Due to the hiring timeline, candidates without a clearance will not be considered at this time


Experience:
•Experience as a paralegal, legal admin, claims analyst or researcher, or similar

•Growth mindset: possesses intrinsic motivation for personal and professional development

•Critical thinking: ability to analyze information objectively, identify relevant facts, and apply sound judgment to solve problems

•Attention to detail: strong proofreading skills for claims documents, ensuring accuracy in names, dates, and case details.

•Organizational skills: ability to organize, file, and retrieve claims documents accurately (both physical and digital).

•Writing and Communication skills: professional written and verbal communication for client interactions and correspondence with military stakeholders

•Research Competency: ability to conduct basic relevant research using both databases and stakeholder interviews, and summarize findings clearly
