IT Intern – DevOps
POSITION PURPOSE
The DevOps Intern will assist the MGE DevOps Team in meeting its specified goals:
Assist IT and business users to work more efficiently using DevOps tools
Ensure security
Increase efficiency through automation
Support testing and Quality Assurance efforts
The ideal candidate will have experience with standard development skills and enrolled in an associate, undergraduate or graduate degree program in the areas of Information Technology or Computer Science.
WORK SCHEDULE
Interns will work full-time (40 hours/week) during the summer months, starting late-May through early September on a hybrid basis with some remote capabilities
Upon successful completion of summer term, additional availability to work part-time (15-20 hours/week) during the fall and spring semesters will be available based on business needs
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists with implementing continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines
Supports development teams with infrastructure needs
Learns and implements best practices for system administration and configuration management
Assists with improving, automating and scaling IT infrastructure
Helps the DevOps team to respond quickly to issues and user requests
Participates in regularly scheduled team meetings
QUALIFICATIONS
High school degree or equivalent; must be enrolled in an accredited university or college program, preferred area of studies around Information Technology or Computer Science.
Experience using a programming language and/or Structured Query Language (SQL)
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas
Strong business acumen, communication, and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills
Must be able to work effectively in a team environment
