POSITION PURPOSE 

The Intern – Customer Experience & Energy Services (CxES) will directly support the Customer Experience and Energy Services team in administering our products and programs, researching future technologies, and data analysis and management. The ideal candidate will have experience with energy or sustainability and strong research, analysis, and communication skills and be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Engineering, Economics, Business or related field. 

WORK SCHEDULE 

  • Interns will work full-time (40 hours/week) during the summer months, starting mid-May through early September on a hybrid basis with some remote capabilities  

  • Preferred availability to work part-time (10-20 hours/week) during the fall and spring semesters with additional hybrid flexibility  

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Work closely with CxES team in collaboration with Business Customer Relations, Residential and Community Services, Corporate Communications, Customer Billing and other departments to deliver high quality customer programs. 

  • Provide information and support to customers interested in participating in MGE’s clean energy programs. 

  • Assist program staff with marketing and enrollment processes for programs including optimizing existing processes or creating new processes to ensure quality program delivery. 

  • Support the Customer Experience and Energy Services team in planning, developing and executing programs. 

  • Participates in analysis of program trends to optimize program impact and customer satisfaction. 

  • Assist with various administrative tasks and other projects as needed. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • High school degree or equivalent; must be enrolled in an accredited university or college program, preferred areas of study include Economics, Engineering, Business or related field. 

  • Interest in sustainability, energy efficiency, and/or beneficial electrification 

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Microsoft Excel and Word 

  • Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas with an attention for detail 

  • Strong business acumen, communication, and interpersonal skills 

  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills 

  • Must be able to work effectively in a team environment

JOB LOCATION 

The position is hybrid, and office days are in downtown Madison, Wisconsin, where MGE is an active participant in community efforts to preserve the area's extraordinary quality of life. We offer free, on-site parking and are located near biking trails and bus stops. Many employees enjoy the use of our many on-site EV charging stations.
