Who We Need:
Our Communications team is seeking a talented Copywriter to help support Cardinal Financial with various channel marketing needs through writing using the Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS) (both digital and physical works) within the company’s brand and style standards. We want someone who understands and is excited about the importance and the effectiveness of creative, professional copywriting.
This team member will be responsible for producing copywriting needs from concept to execution. Deliverables will include copy for marketing materials such as flyers, emails, ads, landing pages, social media posts, and more. This position reports to the Director of Communications. This is a fully remote position.
What You Will Do:
Bring Cardinal Financial’s brand tone and voice to life to maintain the consistent look and feel of both digital and traditional concepts.
Balance writing for search engine optimization and people.
Support our channel sales teams by assisting in the execution of marketing support requests.
Navigate approvals through the Copywriters and/or the Director of Communications, Compliance, and the business for approval.
Effectively communicate ideas and concepts to other team members, partners, internal clients, and cross-functional team members, and deliver projects on time.
Collaborate well with cross-functional team members to perform necessary writing, copyediting, and/or proofreading needs.
Conduct research for product or channel marketing materials, as well as other topics as related to the piece or request at hand.
Transform meeting notes into actionable copy tasks, where applicable.
Shift between differing brand identities and audiences depending on the project or material needed.
Deliver copy documents on time and partner effectively with internal clients to gain approval or feedback.
Communicate with senior team members to gain feedback.
Maintain clean and organized files and asset management on the shared Drive.
Move projects forward by following the project management process in Asana, our project management tool. (Training will be provided.)
Balance multiple projects with differing and aggressive timelines, deliverables, and expectations.
Execute other projects as required.
What You Need:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Communications, English, Marketing, Business, or other relevant discipline.
Online writing portfolio and/or related written samples will be required.
2–5 years of experience in a professional writing role.
SEO experience required.
Ability to adapt well to change.
Must possess a solid understanding of the entire creative development process.
Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
Working knowledge of Google Apps (i.e., Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, etc.).
Must understand branding, marketing, and business strategies.
Mortgage, financial services, or banking experience/knowledge is a plus.
Ability to work and communicate with a team in an online collaboration platform.
Project management skills—use of Asana, Basecamp, Slack, Trello, or alike is a plus.
Blog, article, press release, news, or other writing experience is a plus.
Ability to think creatively.
Strong foundation in creative and professional writing, copyediting, and proofreading.
Broad understanding of writing for a consumer-facing audience.
Ability to follow style guides.
Must have working knowledge of the Chicago Manual of Style.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven work environment.
Ability to work autonomously and not be micromanaged.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Willingness to learn and accept constructive feedback.
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
