We're looking for a Co Op Student – Mechanical in our Maintenance Department.  The mechanical Co Op is responsible for performing all duties defined by Maintenance Supervisors. This includes but is not limited to the installation, maintenance and repair of all equipment, components and systems to include, raw materials processing, papermaking and process related equipment, paper converting equipment, electric motors, fans and blowers, and material handling equipment.   These responsibilities include: preventative maintenance, trouble calls, and carrying out project work in all areas of manufacturing.

Qualifications - Technical:

  • Ability to learn excellent trouble shooting, fault analysis and problem solving skills.
  • Basic knowledge of:
    • Use of electric and gas operated welders (MIG, TIG, ARC)
    • Use of cutting torches and plasma cutting machines.
    • Portable Welding Equipment (field setup and operation).
    • Maintenance fabrication including layout, welding, assembly and installation.
    • Basic knowledge of mechanical measurement tools.
    • Hand, power and machine tools and other installation/service equipment.
    • Ability to learn how to remove/Install and set clearances of various types of bearings.

Qualifications - General:

  • Currently in Junior or Senior year of high school.
  • Possess basic computer skills
  • Ability to read and write English.
  • Ability to accurately record and document all work.
  • Possess basic math skills.
  • Possess competent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with others.
  • Good work ethic, attitude and initiative.
  • Dependable, trustworthy and conscientious.
  • Must be capable of working at elevated heights, i.e. from ladders, staging, elevated platform lifts, etc.
  • Must be physically capable of manual labor requirements associated with the job.
  • Capable of lifting miscellaneous items pertaining to the job which could have a weight of 50 lb.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to various plants and training sites as required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must possess and utilize personal motor vehicle transportation.
