Construction Company has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Controller.  

The Controller manages day to day accounting and administrative operations to achieve the overall Company Plan.  Competitive compensation and benefit package.  

Responsibilities include:

Accounting and Finance

  • Participate in planning the objectives, methods, and resources of short and long-range financial operations of the company.
  • Direct and coordinate the accounting, budgeting, and other financial operations.  
  • Recommend and implement policies and procedures relating to financial and business practices of the company.
  • Monitor the financial operations of the company to ensure compliance with budgets.
  • Make deposits and monitor financial position of the company.
  • Oversee compliance with Federal and State reporting and regulatory requirements
  • Prepare monthly and annual financial reports for internal and external use.
  • Maintain compliance with banking and loan agreements
  • Direct the preparation of payroll, accounts payable, reconciliations, back-charges, and field invoices.
  • Manage bonding and surety transactions and relationships
  • Maintain authorization to do business in states in which we are registered.
  • Coordinate corporate insurance coverage, renewals and claims.
  • Coordinate with external CPAs in annual reporting and tax return preparation.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by supervisor.

Human Resources and Administration

  • Manage and supervise administrative staff of accountants and administrative personnel to provide an efficient team to successfully support project office.
  • Attend and record minutes of all executive meetings.
  • Coordinate outsourced IT services.
  • Manage human resources including recruiting, new employee onboarding, and termination. 
  • Administer employee benefit programs, claims and reporting.
  • Oversee wage and salary administration, including related personnel transactions to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Assist with personnel policy manual and procedure development in conjunction with Cascade Employers 
  • Provide management reporting on personnel as needed
  • Be a resource to personnel regarding policies, benefits, etc.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by supervisor.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in managing an accounting department
  • 4-year degree preferred
  • Strong background in construction accounting, including job costing, work in process and overhead allocation
  • Experience with prevailing wage
  • Ability to provide meaningful financial analysis to assist managers and owner in running the business
  • Understanding of laws, regulations and codes that impact the industry
  • Demonstrated management skills including ability to supervise team members
  • Team player with a "can do" approach.

  • Strong communication skills
