POSITION PURPOSE
The IT Intern – Project Coordinator will be challenged with real world projects and assignments as well as providing day-to-day support to various members of the Project Management Organization (PMO) team. The intern will work directly with and receive exposure to several areas of IT including Enterprise Systems – Business Applications, DevOps, Agile/Scrum Product Development, and System Development Life Cycle methodologies and procedures. The intern will be presented with opportunities in the administrative functions and coordination of project management within a defined project(s) scope. The ideal candidate will have strong communication and organizational skills and must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited school.
WORK SCHEDULE
Interns will work full-time (40 hours/week) during the summer months, starting mid-May through early September on a hybrid basis with some remote capabilities
Upon successful completion of summer term, additional availability to work part-time (15-20 hours/week) during the fall and spring semesters will be available based on business needs
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Works with project teams to identify key opportunities to help deliver the project(s) on-time and within budget.
Participate in organized events that provide visibility into overall business operations.
Works with project teams to develop detailed project plans.
Works with IT and Business Resource Managers to request and confirm project resources and allocations and assign project tasks.
Coordinate project tasks with assigned resources and escalate risks and issues to project sponsor(s).
Works with project sponsor(s) and IT to apply the necessary governance to manage and track actual and forecasted spend for each project assigned and ensure project resources are accurately accounting for project time.
Works with project resources to ensure final documentation is adequately archived & loaded to project SharePoint.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school degree or equivalent; must be enrolled in an accredited university or college program, preferred area of studies include Computer Science, Information Science, Business, Economics, Engineering, Finance or related field.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
Basic financial understanding of business and IT including general understanding of IT terminology
Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas
Must demonstrate the highest degree of confidentiality and integrity
Strong business acumen, communication, and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills
Must be able to work effectively in a team environment
