POSITION PURPOSE 

The IT Intern – Database Administrator will directly support the IT department within the DBA team engagements. The ideal candidate will have experience with standard technical skills and be enrolled in an associate, undergraduate or graduate degree program in the areas of Information Technology or Computer Science.   

WORK SCHEDULE 

  • Interns will work full-time (40 hours/week) during the summer months, starting mid-May through early September on a hybrid basis with some remote capabilities  
  • Upon successful completion of summer term, additional availability to work part-time (15-20 hours/week) during the fall and spring semesters will be available based on business needs  

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Understand and engage with Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) with Oracle and Microsoft SQL Servers 
  • Review and design documentation to support DBA team engagement with application and business teams 
  • Learn and execute tasks to assess, maintain and support databases such as patches, monitoring and turning activities 
  • Participate in regularly scheduled team meetings  

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • High school degree or equivalent; must be enrolled in an accredited university or college program, preferred area of studies around Information Technology or Computer Science.   
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas 
  • Strong business acumen, communication, and interpersonal skills 
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills 
  • Must be able to work effectively in a team environment
