Full-Time Service Engineering Co-op beginning May 28th, 2024 continuing through December 2024

POSITION PURPOSE

The Engineering Co-op student will directly support the Service Engineering Team with full-cycle work related to new commercial engineering projects. The ideal candidate will have experience with electrical design skills, possess a service-focused attitude and mindset, and be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Electrical Engineering, or a similar power generation/design focused program.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Co-op students will work full-time (40 hours/week) starting 5/28/24 on a hybrid basis with some remote capabilities, through the end of 2024.
  • Potential part-time (10-15 hours/week) may be available following the successful completion of Co-op.
  • Opportunity for full-time employment - high conversion rate from internship to full-time employment after graduation.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists engineers with electrical design and oversight for overhead, underground, and network for new customer development projects.
  • Works closely with other MGE departments and outside entities to coordinate Company projects according to customer schedules.
  • Assists in designing systems to interconnect large-scale customer-owned Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) into the distribution grid.
  • Reviews plans and one-lines for the installation of electric service gear.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school degree or equivalent; must be enrolled in an accredited university or college program, preferred area of studies in Electrical Engineering. Sophomore or higher standing will be considered, Junior or Senior standing preferred.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Products); ability to grasp new programs quickly.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Any experience in the construction field is a plus.
