Job Title: Organizing Internship

Department: Conservation

Reports To: Field Organizing Manager

Rate per hour: $15 per hour

Duration: 20 hours a week for a maximum of 12 weeks

Context: Builds grassroots power, by supporting the implementation of organizing campaigns that will increase the number of people involved, leaders trained, and engagement of people with influence to achieve our conservation goals. The Organizing Inter will coordinate volunteer efforts in the collection of Xcel IRP and Minnesota Power IRP public comments, work with Petition Captains, help with recruitment and technical support for Zoom webinars & trainings, and create social media posts a week.

Job Activities:

  1. Assists with public outreach around Xcel IRP & Minnesota Power IRP by attending other community meetings online, getting on the agenda to speak at the meetings, making announcements, etc
  2. Leads volunteer coordination for public comment collection efforts for utility dockets and hearings
  3. Works with Sierra Club petition captains to make sure we are on track to meet our goals, recruits & trains, new captains
  4. Assists with the planning, setting up-for, and facilitating monthly action nights and other meetings and online events as needed to engage supporters
  5. Helps with the hearing turnout and all the prep work that goes into a successful hearing
  6. Phonebank training, Hustle training, workshops on how to do testimony, LTE workshops
  7. Helps us try out No New Gas messaging on social media by drafting posts
  8. Completes administrative tasks including data entry in VAN and updating spreadsheets, as needed
  9. Provides technical and facilitation support for webinars

Skills and Experience:

  • Strong commitment to justice, equity, and inclusion.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Research and analytical skills.
  • Proficient computer skills: google doc, excel spreadsheets, social media (Facebook, Instagram, & Twitter), and virtual meeting platforms

This is a category 99 non-exempt position.
