Job Title: Campaign Representative - Beyond Coal Campaign

Salary Range: $53,000 - $60,000
Context: The Sierra Club is the largest and oldest grassroots environmental organization in the country. With 800+ staff, 64 chapters, 4,000 volunteer leaders and a reach to nearly 4 million members and supporters, the Sierra Club is at the forefront of climate change activism. The Beyond Coal Campaign leads the effort inside the Sierra Club to eliminate coal and fracked gas from the electric power sector, replace existing fossil fuel infrastructure with a 100% clean energy economy powered by renewable resources and other clean technologies, and protect public health and the environment from dirty fossil fuels. We are seeking a strategic, collaborative, equity-driven team leader who is committed to modeling the Jemez Principles for Democratic Organizing to manage the Beyond Coal Campaign team in the Tennessee Valley.
Scope: The Campaign Representative is responsible for leading a multidisciplinary team in the Tennessee Valley, and leveraging the Sierra Club’s resources, in coordination with partner groups and community leaders, to develop and implement a campaign to achieve the Sierra Club’s vision for climate justice through the work of the Beyond Coal Campaign. Rooting the campaign in the interdependence of social and economic justice and the environment, the Campaign Representative leads a team focused on protecting public health and the environment by ending fossil fuel use in the electric power sector and in buildings, retiring coal-fired power plants, scaling clean energy growth, preventing new fracked gas power plants, advancing a just economic transition for communities impacted by pollution, and electrifying homes and buildings. The Campaign Representative ensures the team’s work engages Sierra Club’s members and supporters, and builds powerful partnerships that are oriented toward a shared vision of climate and environmental justice.

Activities:
Heavier seasonal workloads may occur as a result of project deadlines, staff absences and vacancies, and during peak activity periods. Weekend and/or evening work may be required.
A valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and proof of auto insurance is required. A background check will be required upon acceptance of the position.
Work Environment:
This position is a category 4 exempt position represented by a collective bargaining unit and is subject to the terms and conditions of the contract between Sierra Club and Progressive Workers Union.
