What does this role entail?

  • Provide leadership and oversight of assigned EHS and Aquatic Safety in a fast paced, cross functional and multi-site environment. Provide tactical direction and standardization to sites regarding EHS and Aquatic Safety and initiatives
  • Attend and/or present information to various organizations, committees, etc. as necessary
  • Develops, implements, and continuously improves the environmental health and safety programs/plans (i.e. chemical safety, hazardous materials/waste and bio-hazardous waste, emergency response, storm water pollution prevention program, incident management to ensure compliance with operating procedures, regulatory requirements, and the Association’s EH&S department standards)
  • Provide Association employees and leadership technical guidance, regulatory advice and training.
  • Conduct accident investigations and analyze root causes to determine and implement safety measures which prevent future incidents and accidents. Lead risk assessments to control and reduce safety hazards and risk injury or chemical release
  • Manage Association Aquatic Safety and/or EHS training programs, including federal and state mandated EHS safety training, and other related training
  • Manage and implement Aquatic Safety and EHS programs and plans to ensure compliance with programs developed by the organization to meet applicable regulations and reducing or eliminating injuries and illness
  • Conduct internal audits/assessments and provide recommendations to branch leadership to improve EHS & Aquatic Safety practices
  • Ensure that accidents, incidents, compliance deviations and enforcement actions are fully investigated to ensure that corrective and preventative measures are taken.
  • Serve as the point of contact for unannounced audits and inspections by government entities, including federal, state or local municipalities
  • Promote, reinforce and sustain a strong EHS & Aquatic Safety culture through engagement with site leadership and operational teams
  • Ensure Risk Assessments are effectively conducted for new processes, product development processes, and new equipment

 

What do I need to bring do the table?

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and credentials required
  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • 5+ years' of environmental or safety related experience with 2+ years' of proven supervisory experience to help hire, evaluate, train, and motivate staff/teams
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for federal and state programs, process and program implementation strategies (i.e. OSHA/CALOSHA, CEQA, DEH, APCD, DOT, EPA, NFPA, etc.)
  • Must have the visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation; ability to adequately observe participant activities, enforce safety regulations, and apply appropriate policies and procedures; the physical ability to lead and interact in group activities and perform related physical skills.

  • Must have current CPR/AED, First Aid, and Certified Pool Operator certifications or ability to obtain with 60 days
