Basic Assignment

Responsible for meeting the expectations and program conditions of the Youth Employment Program. Responsibilities include attending work readiness trainings, meeting with the Employment Specialist, and adhering to the work responsibilities and expectations set forth by the assigned worksite.

 

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must meet eligibility requirements of program and be an active member of program.
  • Must be highly dependable.
  • Must have a willingness to fulfill the job responsibilities in accordance with the program, branch and worksite goals.
  • Basic computer knowledge and skills.
  • Must be willing to work in diverse setting with people of all backgrounds, culture and orientation.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be self-aware, flexible, adaptable and teachable.
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organization: American Red Cross, American Heart Association or American Safety & Health Institute.

 

Major Functions

  • Comply with the contractual requirements of the Youth Employment Program and YMCA policies and procedures at all times.
  • Follow emergency procedures appropriately to ensure the safety of the participants and staff.
  • Assist with general office tasks.
  • Develop professional skills and gain valuable work experience.
  • Communicate in a positive and effective manner with all community members and co-workers.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor at all times to ensure the YMCA image and mission statement are upheld.
  • Attend all required meetings and trainings.
  • Models the 4 Core Values in all aspects of position responsibilities.
  • Ability to work effectively with others in alignment with the YMCA 4 core values.
