Security Officer

 

 

Basic Purpose: To perform all duties required of a Security Officer pertaining to the safety and security of all patients, visitors, and hospital staff.

Qualifications:

Education: GED or  High School Diploma

Licensure: N/A

Experience: 3-6 months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Law enforcement/military experience preferred. 

Special Skills: A condition of employment, all guards must be a Mississippi State Certified with their hospital approved weapon annually.

Language/Communication/Organizational Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations of patients, visitors, and hospital staff.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurements, volume and distance.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical  problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
