Basic Purpose: Provides direct and indirect patient care. Communicates with physicians about changes in clinical condition including assessment, planning and implementation of patient care. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Is able to perform general nursing duties in all nursing departments with adequate training and supervision. Participates in departmental PI improvements projects.

 

Qualifications

Education: Graduate from an accredited College of Nursing

Licensure: Mississippi Board of Nursing or Compact State Licensure as a Registered Nurse

Experience: 1 to 2 years of cath lab experience preferred

Special Skills: To become a trained Cath Lab RN, must have 2 years experience in the field; Able to complete or demonstrate procedures at will; Hemodynamic monitoring; data processing; patient transfers.

Language/Communication/Organizational Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to calculate CO, CI, or PVR.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished from MD or Director in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations with understanding.

 

Work Environment

Physical Demands: Employee is regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally required to stand, walk, climb, or balance, and taste or smell. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50-lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Environment: Regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock and risk of radiation. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration. Radiation Film Badges are to be worn at all times while in Department.
