Basic Purpose: The Dietary Worker performs a variety of duties. They include: accurate and attractive tray assembly, tray delivery to patients, operation of the dish machine, sanitation of work area, dishes, and equipment, preparation of food items for patient tray line and cafeteria, caffeteria sales and operation of cash registers. Receives, records and distributes diet orders to service areas upon requests for service.
Qualifications Education and/or Experience: Must have high school diploma or GED. Must be ServSafe certified or obtained within 6 months from hire date. Computer literacy: Must be computer literate in Meditech and Access Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cools, and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25-lbs, frequently lift and/or move up to 50-lbs and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100-lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. | |
