Clinical Social Worker

Learning Resource Program

 

JOB SUMMARY: 

The Clinical Social Worker will provide clinical services to students enrolled in the Learning Resource Program. They will also serve as a member of the program’s assessment team and recruiting team. They will also assist the Associate Director with related clinical tasks as needed.

This position works during the fall and spring semesters, as well as up to 25 days for summer programming.

SALARY INFORMATION:

In compliance with New York’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $50,000 - $55,000. Adelphi University considers factors such as departmental budgets, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. An annual base salary higher than the range may be warranted in circumstances where a candidate has demonstrable equivalent prior higher education experience at another University.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

 

  1. Provide direct clinical services to students, including intake and crisis assessment, individual and group counseling, and referrals to outside resources.
  2. Maintain a caseload of students as assigned.
  3. Facilitate or co-facilitate student psychoeducational workshops and psychosocial groups.
  4. Provide psychoeducational parent workshops.
  5. Consult with learning specialists and program administration on issues related to students.
  6. Attend team meetings, family meetings, as well as collaborate with other university departments as needed when pertaining to students on caseload.
  7. Maintain timely recordkeeping on provided clinical services.
  8. Assist Associate Director with the planning and implementation of student peer mentor program.
  9. Attend supervisory meetings with the Associate Director as scheduled.
  10. Attend group supervisory meetings with the counseling team as scheduled.
  11. Attend mandatory full staff meetings as scheduled.
  12. Attend Division monthly meetings and related Division functions as requested.
  13. Provide information for prospective students and families when requested by program administration.
  14. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Knowledge of professional standards and policies related to the delivery of clinical services.

2. Training in evidence-based practices in college mental health, with experience in brief therapy modalities and psychodynamic approaches.

3. Experience working with students with learning differences and/or ADHD diagnoses, and their co-occurring symptomology.

4. Proficiency and a commitment to multicultural competence and experience working with individuals from culturally diverse populations.

5. Ability to prioritize workload according to urgency and volume.

6. Ability to maintain confidentiality while effectively providing consultation to interdisciplinary program staff.

7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills.

8. Strong computer skills using Microsoft Windows, and Office Suite and Google programs.

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

1. New York State LCSW or related New York State licensure, and a minimum of three-years of direct clinical practice.
