JOB SUMMARY:

In this position, you will have the opportunity to work as part of a community clinic dedicated to serving the students and their families while supporting graduate students in clinical training.  This position requires a therapist who is sensitive to the emotional needs of families who experience stressors associated with residing in a low socio-economic community.

SALARY INFORMATION:

In compliance with New York’s Pay Transparency Act, the salary for this position is $40.00 per hour. Adelphi University considers factors such as departmental budgets, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. An annual base salary higher than the range may be warranted in circumstances where a candidate has demonstrable equivalent prior higher education experience at another University.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  1. Oversee externs as they provide therapy for children and their parents after school at the Hempstead district schools and/or charter schools, such as  Evergreen charter school.
  2. Provide intakes & shadow externs as needed for intakes or initial treatment planning sessions.
  3. Co-lead group therapy for parents and/or pre-adolescents/adolescents.
  4. Plan and participate in the weekly Confidence Club for children
  5. Plan and participate in Reflective Parenting webinars on a monthly basis
  6. Support  graduate students to navigate their way through some of the challenges that come with providing clinical work
  7. Making connections with parents, teachers, and administrators to ensure quality care.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Independent program management abilities within multiple roles.
  2. Advanced writing, communication and consultation skills.
  3. Requires experience with academic programming. 

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling, or Social work
  2. LMHC, LMSW, LCSW preferred

HOURS/RATE:

September – June (10 months)

Days Clinic is Open: Mon- Thurs

Position requested for 2 evenings a week, preferably Mondays and Wednesdays

Hours: 3:30-7:30 pm

Salary: $40/hr
