Director, Operational Strategy and Reporting

Position overview

As Director of Operational Strategy and Reporting, you’ll partner directly with the COO and Director team to strengthen how YVR plans, delivers, and measures operational performance. You’ll lead critical functions — business and decision support, analytics, program reporting, senior stakeholder engagement, and financial planning—ensuring clarity, alignment, and consistency across daily operations.

You’ll also collaborate closely with Experience and Innovation Teams to advance “One YVR” priorities, reinforcing a unified operational and technology approach that supports a seamless, airport‑wide experience. This role is ideal for someone who brings strategic insight, operational discipline, and a passion for building systems that help people and teams thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic, end‑to‑end leadership for YVR’s most significant business and transformation initiatives, overseeing due diligence, integration, and execution with rigor and discipline.
  • Ensure enterprise‑wide schedule and milestone fidelity, accelerating progress and removing barriers to maintain momentum across functional boundaries
  • Lead executive‑level reviews that translate complex program insights into clear decisions, ensuring initiatives deliver results at or ahead of plan
  • Drive leadership accountability, reinforcing ownership of business commitments and sustaining focus on transformation priorities
  • Mobilize and support functional teams to execute the highest‑priority tactics essential to advancing YVR’s transformation agenda particularly with digital
  • Lead cross‑functional alignment for major repositioning efforts, ensuring clarity, cohesion, and seamless execution across the organization.
  • Design, implement, and govern a comprehensive reporting ecosystem that strengthens transparency, enables data‑driven decision‑making, and enhances enterprise oversight

Key Qualifications

  • A minimum of ten years of progressive experience in a senior operations or strategy role, including at least five years leading teams; supported by a bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field (a master’s degree is an asset) or a combination of equivalent training and experience.
  • Demonstrated strength in critical thinking and sound judgment, with the ability to shape strategic direction and translate plans into outcomes that deliver measurable value
    Proven leadership and communication capabilities, with the ability to influence, collaborate, and build alignment across all levels of the organization.
  • A strategic, solution‑oriented mindset, with the credibility to guide leaders through complex operational and organizational challenges.
  • Advanced analytical and program management expertise, with a track record of driving large‑scale initiatives to successful completion
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to high‑quality execution, even in complex or fast‑moving environments
  • Strong technical proficiency, particularly with MS Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and comfort working with data‑driven insights
  • Resilience and composure under pressure, consistently navigating evolving priorities with diplomacy, professionalism, and confidence

Although not required, French language skills are an asset as we are committed to providing bilingual services to our visitors and passengers. Salary Range : $142,720 to $214,080 per annum, based on 37.5-hour work week. This is individually tailored to reflect your unique experience, qualifications, and internal equity.

Performance-Based Incentive: Eligible for an annual bonus target at 20% of your annual salary
