Assistant Professor in Clinical/School Psychology

JOB SUMMARY:

 

The Gordon F. Derner School of Psychology at Adelphi University seeks to enhance its roster of distinguished faculty through the addition of a colleague with a strong background in clinical and school psychology. We are seeking candidates who have a strong commitment to teaching undergraduate and graduate students from diverse cultural backgrounds.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1. Candidates will be expected to contribute equally to our APA accredited Ph.D. program in clinical psychology and our Psy.D. program in school psychology in terms of teaching, scholarship, research and service.

2. In addition to teaching courses in clinical and school psychology, broadly defined, applicants will mentor and advise Ph.D. and Psy.D. students. 

3. Teaching and advising across programs in the Derner School of Psychology.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

1. Applicants for this tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor must have a Ph.D. and will begin teaching no later than the Fall 2024 semester.

2. Applicants with a strong publication record would be preferred. Research and scholarship involving infant, child, or adolescent populations (clinical assessment, basic or applied clinical research) is required; however, preference will be given to candidates whose research and/or clinical work strengthens the existing department resources in psychotherapy integration and psychodynamic psychotherapy.

3. Applicants must be licensed as a Psychologist or eligible for licensure in NY State.

4. Certification as a School Psychologist and one to three years of experience as a School Psychologist would be desirable.

SALARY INFORMATION:

In compliance with New York’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $80,000 - $83,000. Adelphi University considers factors such as departmental budgets, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. An annual base salary higher than the range may be warranted in circumstances where a candidate has demonstrable equivalent prior higher education experience at another University.
