JOB SUMMARY:

The Gordon F. Derner School of Psychology at Adelphi University seeks to enhance its roster of distinguished faculty through the addition of a colleague with a strong background in School Psychology.  The School Psychology program adheres to the ecological model and aims to graduate school psychologists who are well trained as scholar-practitioners and are well aware of the profound impact culture and social environment have on learning and emotional health. The program is seeking candidates who have a strong commitment to graduate students who are mindful of social justice issues and come from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1. Candidates will be expected to contribute to our M.A. and Psy.D. programs in school psychology in terms of teaching, scholarship, research, and service.

2. In addition to teaching courses in school psychology broadly defined, applicants will mentor and advise graduate students.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

1. Applicants for this faculty position at the tenure-track assistant professor level must have a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in School Psychology and will begin teaching no later than the Fall 2024 semester.

2. Applicants must be certified or licensed in school psychology and have a minimum of 3 years of experience working in the field.

3. Evidence of a publication record would be preferred. Research and scholarship areas are open.

4. Experience interacting with diverse populations (by gender, race, ethnicity, age, religion, disability and sexuality) and/or students of color.

SALARY INFORMATION:

In compliance with New York’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $80,000 - $83,000. Adelphi University considers factors such as departmental budgets, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. An annual base salary higher than the range may be warranted in circumstances where a candidate has demonstrable equivalent prior higher education experience at another University.
