Buffalo Rock is an award-winning Pepsi and Keurig Dr. Pepper bottler founded in Birmingham, AL more than 120 years ago. Buffalo Rock manages the best non-alcoholic beverage portfolio in the country, which includes several beloved global and regional brands. The Marketing & External Communications Coordinator is a key member of the Customer Strategy, Marketing & Brand team and is responsible for executing corporate sponsorships, marketing campaigns and external communications.  This position requires sponsorship (music, sports or events), advertising or public relations experience, an understanding of affinity marketing relationships and a customer service mindset

Essential functions

  • Execute corporate sponsorships and build brand awareness of Buffalo Rock’s portfolio by implementing strategic marketing plans to support business development, partnerships, and our business model.
  • Manage, secure and fulfill ticket assets for corporate and franchise customers.
  • Assist in executing marketing campaigns including overseeing the distribution of print and digital assets and maintaining calendars, while efficiently utilizing financial resources, adhering to brand guidelines, and ensuring timely delivery.
  • Track sponsorship objectives, marketing platforms, spending, and activation efforts to ensure relationships are meeting both company and brand objectives.
  • Draft event plans, post-event surveys, and/or recaps.
  • Coordination with partnership contacts, venues, vendors, and/or contractors, guiding their efficacy and ensuring timely delivery of communications and assets
  • Develop social media strategy and content for company-owned brands (e.g. Buffalo Rock Ginger Ale, Grapico, SunFresh Lemonade, etc.). 
  • Assist with community outreach and giving.
  • Manage external communications, including drafting press releases and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work to understand the business with a genuine curiosity and builds relationships as a marketing communications expert.
  • Research of new, innovative, and/or enhanced opportunities in events and experiences that deliver value to the brand and leads to brand activation; seek updates to aid the overall event experience for consumers and customers. 
  • Functions as a strong team member with other members of the Customer Strategy, Marketing and Brand Department by performing other duties as assigned including but not limited to other projects, programs and events as directed by Supervisor.
  • Excellent project management skills and experience creating plans, meeting agendas and other collaboration tools preferred.
  • Must have the ability to plan, organize, implement, complete, and evaluate effectiveness of marketing campaign elements.
  • Must have the ability to juggle multiple projects at a time and prioritize effectively. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with extensive knowledge of AP style.
  • Must have a solid understanding of effective sponsorship, marketing and social media strategies.
  • Must have a strong attention-to-detail, self-directed initiative, resourcefulness, and drive for innovation.
  • Must have an exceptional time, resource management, and organizational skills.
  • Must have a calm appearance under pressure.
  • Readiness to work outside fixed business hours if necessary (e.g. mornings, evenings, and weekends)
  • Must have a sense of humor and capacity to succeed in a fast-paced, dynamic organization.
  • Must be a team player with leadership potential. 
  • Must have the ability and desire to interact with employees at all levels.
  • Responsible for continuous self-improvement through the knowledge and use of all Buffalo Rock provided training, either web-based, in-house, or any other provided method. Must successfully complete assigned training curriculum, including but not limited to online and/or facilitated training.

Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - Slip Resistant Shoes, Safety Vest and Glasses, and Ear Plugs.

  20% out of town travel required

Required education and experience

  •  Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school) Required, Field of Study: Public Relations, Advertising, Communications, Sports Marketing, Marketing, Business Administration or Event Planning Required
  •  Must have at least 2+ years in a sponsorship, advertising, marketing, or public relations position required.
  •  Advanced experience in/application of Microsoft Office 365 products is required including, but not limited to: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, One Drive, etc.
  • Must have a valid Drivers License with a good driving record.
