Railhead, Inc. has an immediate requirement for a Network Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have had experience in the high-paced energy of startups as well as experience in the structured world of larger companies.  As a Network Engineer, you will work as part of a team to provide full support, including infrastructure and network setup; maintenance, troubleshooting, developing, and provisioning of enterprise-level systems and applications.  You will be core to ensuring our solutions maintain the highest uptime and performance for our government and commercial customers. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Racking, stacking, and cabling.
  • Responsible for infrastructure stack deployment to cloud Infrastructure. 
  • Managing application and database deployments.
  • Running routine maintenance and system patching on all systems.
  • Maintaining uptime for our customer’s applications and databases within service levels.
  • Work with other network engineers, software architects, and quality assurance engineers to resolve development roadblocks. 
  • Work with distributed teams across various time zones globally. 
  • Possesses and applies expertise on multiple complex work assignments.  Assignments may be broad in nature, requiring originality and innovation in determining how to accomplish tasks.
  • Operate with appreciable latitude in developing methodology and presenting solutions to problems.
  • Directs compilation of records and reports concerning network operations and maintenance.
  • Analyzes network traffic and provides capacity-planning solutions.
  • Monitors and response to complex technical control facility hardware and software problems.
  • Interfaces with vendors and customers as required to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance.
  • Manages the testing, installation, and support of network communications, including LAN/MAN/WAN and cloud-based systems.
  • Performs system-level design and configuration of products including determination of hardware, OS, cloud-based, and other platform specifications.
  • Ensures DOD cyber compliance of all assigned systems and equipment.
  • Provides quality assurance review and the evaluation of new and existing network-related products.
  • Provides input to policy-level discussions regarding standards and budget constraints.
  • Monitors and mentors more junior IT personnel on staff.
  • Provides the routine testing and analysis of all elements of the network facilities (including power, software, communications machinery, lines, modems, and terminals).

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or similar discipline required.
  • 8+ years of recent experience; 2+ years of experience working with UNIX/LINUX Servers highly desired.
  • CCNA required; CCNP or CCIE desired.
  • Strong Data Center experience with Cisco Technologies, especially with Routers & Firewalls.
  • Experienced with Virtual Extensible LAN (VXLAN).
