POSITION: 

Dishwasher 

 

Welcome to Oak Island Resort & Conference Centre - Atlantic Canada's first resort and convention centre facility. Far away from the everyday, but only 45 minutes from Halifax!

We are searching for hard working individuals to provide support to our culinary and food and beverage teams in the position of Dishwasher. The successful applicants will be physically able to keep up a fast pace to achieve sanitation and cleanliness standards, while maintaining an organized dish area. This is an integral role of our heart of the house team.  Both full-time and part-time positions are available for our upcoming busy season.

RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):

  • Cleaning the kitchen area, including equipment
  • Gathering all recycled items, cleaning and carrying to “Bottle shed”
  • Collecting all garbage from the kitchen and banquets area, and brining out to garbage area
  • Collecting all soiled linens from the kitchen and brining down to laundry area
  • Retrieving dirty dishes and loading the dishwasher with dirty dishes
  • Once cycle is complete, unloading dishwasher of clean dishes and sorting to proper areas
  • May assist with pacing dinners
  • May assist cook’s with meal preparation, etc when asked
  • Cleaning the kitchen at the end of the shift, including mopping and cleaning the floors
  • Cleaning the dishwasher of all dirt and residue at the end of shift
  • Scrubbing pots and pans by hand
  • Removing and broken glass from kitchen and placing in proper receptacles
  • Gathering all cleaning supplies needed for kitchen.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and well organized.
  • Able to work independently
  • Must be able to bend, extend arm reach over head and stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs
  • Available for work evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours as business volumes dictate
