Welcome to Oak Island Resort & Conference Centre - Atlantic Canada's first resort and convention centre facility. Far away from the everyday, but only 45 minutes from Halifax!

 

Our team is looking for a motivated Host / Hostess to support our staff and improve the dining experience of our guests.  The successful applicant will be expected to relay important information between management, kitchen staff, and servers, performing any tasks necessary to ensure a high quality customer experience.  Not only will the ideal candidate have great communication skills, but will also be ready to work in a fast paced environment that requires attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.  Experience is not required, but a willingness to learn is. This is a part-time, seasonal opportunity.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide outstanding customer service in all interactions with guests
  • Welcome each guest with a smile and friendly greeting
  • Answer the telephone and take reservations
  • Help customers with orders by explaining dishes and drinks, and making recommendations as appropriate
  • Deliver food orders from the kitchen to customers’ tables quickly and accurately
  • Coordinate food orders to guarantee timely and efficient delivery to guests
  • Ensure complete knowledge of menu offerings
  • Refill water and periodically check on guests to handle any issues promptly
  • Maintain our high food safety and sanitation standards
  • Clean and reset tables
  • Complete tasks as assigned by supervisor

 

 

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • The ability to work quickly and adapt on the go
  • Physical ability and stamina to carry heavy trays
  • Able to walk or stand for nearly 100% of each shift
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced work environment
  • Understanding of hygiene and food safety rules
  • Positive, professional attitude and presentation
  • Enthusiastic and well spoken
  • Able to work various shifts during breakfast, lunch, dinner, and bar service, including weekends and holidays
  • Food and Beverage Server Designation an asset
