Breakfast Cook

 

Welcome to Oak Island Resort & Conference Centre - Atlantic Canada's first resort and convention centre facility. Far away from the everyday, but only 45 minutes from Halifax!

 

We are looking for an experienced and customer focused Breakfast Cook to join our Culinary Team. The ideal candidate will have two or more years in a busy, full service kitchen environment with a positive attitude and willingness to grow and develop.  This is a full-time, seasonal position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow the leadership of the Executive Chef, providing a top quality product that meets and exceeds guests’ expectations
  • Produce the orders from the dining room and room service in a timely and efficient manner
  • Assist to open or close the front line according to established procedures
  • Preparation and set up of the line, having all mis en place according to prep list
  • Maintain and promote a safe and clean work environment
  • Prepare and cook all orders according to standards, within the established time guidelines
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Executive Chef or designate

 

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2 years Culinary experience as a line cook in a busy environment
  • Diploma or equivalent from an accredited culinary program
  • Registered Apprentice would be an asset
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Positive attitude and ability to be a team player are a must
  • Willingness to learn and take on multiple tasks
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to show initiative and handle problems without guidance
  • Must be able to stand for 8 hours
  • Must be able to speak, write and read the English language
  • Must be available to for shifts including mornings, days, weekends, and holidays
