Summary:

The Training and Development Specialist is a member of the Training and Development team, which creates high-quality, effective learning content and engaging experiences for Toastmasters volunteer leaders around the globe. Reporting to the Training and Development Manager, this position is responsible for creating and evaluating blended learning solutions for the volunteer leaders of the organization, including but not limited to facilitator-led training, webinars, and e-learning. The Training and Development Specialist also develops and implements train-the-trainer programs and is involved with communications and logistics associated with training programs and other department events.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop high-quality, instructionally sound facilitator-led, e-learning, and blended training content using multiple mediums including documents, e-learning, webinars, forms, and more
  • Partner with senior leaders, subject matter experts, graphic designers, and other team members to create effective and engaging training programs that meet the needs of volunteer leaders
  • Apply established instructional design and adult learning theories, practices, and methods to enhance learning opportunities and experiences
  • Create consistent learning content that aligns with Toastmasters International’s values and mission, meets organizational brand and style guidelines, and meets the needs of international audiences
  • Prepare volunteer leaders to facilitate in-person and online training sessions through extensive Train-the-Trainer programs and months of targeted preparation sessions
  • Provide feedback and professional development opportunities to senior volunteer leaders that support their advancement toward higher-level leadership positions
  • Facilitate online and in-person training sessions and programs
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and volunteer leadership teams
  • Create a safe and inclusive learning environment for staff and Toastmasters members from around the world
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training using metrics and evaluation tools
  • Review existing Toastmasters materials to recommend and implement updates and modifications to align with current instructional standards
  • Prepare and deliver status reports and presentations
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of training curriculum, organizational culture, and policies and procedures
  • Support a collaborative team environment through open communication, cooperation, regular feedback, and trust
  • Provide timely, professional responses to staff and member inquiries
  • Assist with logistics coordination and communication for all training events (off-site and online)
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned

Knowledge and Skills

  • Demonstrated understanding of training and development techniques for adult learners, including theory, curriculum design and development, delivery methods, training technology, and evaluation
  • Exceptional follow-up and follow-through
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills in online and face-to-face environments
  • Ability to effectively follow project plans, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects with tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as in collaboration with others
  • Ability to quickly learn and incorporate new skills, information, and processes into daily work
  • Ability to work collaboratively with business leaders and subject matter experts at all organizational levels
  • Experience designing accessible learning content a plus
  • Intercultural communication experience a plus

Requirements

  • 3 or more years of relevant work experience in instructional design or curriculum development (degree in instructional design, education, or relevant field preferred)
  • 2 or more years of experience teaching or training adult learners
  • High computer literacy with proficiency in Office 365 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, Planner, etc.) and related business and communication tools (Zoom)
  • Demonstrated proficiency with eLearning authoring tools (intermediate to advanced skill with Articulate 360 preferred)
  • Willingness to learn about and acclimate to Toastmasters International culture and policies
  • High level of professionalism, respect, and customer service at all times
  • Occasional work outside typical working hours
  • Occasional workdays exceeding 12 hours (during training events)
  • Some travel (including international) may be required

Compliance with all company policies, including but not limited to the company’s COVID-19 vaccination policy and testing and face-covering policy, is a condition of employment. You must be able to connect to a reliable internet service to perform all job duties when working from home. Work authorization is required, and sponsorship is not available.  Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. 

The annual pay range is anticipated to be $64,000.00 - $68,000.00, depending on experience. This position is exempt.

This is a hybrid role, with some days remote and some days on-site, typically 2 per week, with expected in-office days of Tuesday and Wednesday at 9127 S. Jamaica St. Englewood, CO 80112. When working in the office, we follow CDC guidelines.
