What can you expect in this role?

Reporting to the AVP of Capital Management and Treasury the Manager, Reinsurance will have the unique opportunity to refine and develop the activities of the Reinsurance function as we move towards becoming a public company.  This role will require working closely with the other finance departments, actuarial, commercial, personal, claims as well as external brokers and reinsurers

  • Management of internal and external monthly, quarterly, and year-end reinsurance reporting
  • Ownership of the reinsurance planning and forecasting processes
  • Lead the development and creation of new analysis including tracking of monthly reinsurance usage and performance and market / peer comparisons
  • End-to-end management of the annual reinsurance renewal placement and other ad hoc reinsurance placements that arise during the year
  • Investigate and recommend new and existing reinsurance structures to determine the most optimal structure as we move towards becoming a public company
  • Drive cross collaboration with other Finance functions, including Capital, and be a key point of contact with Commercial, Personal, and Claims
  • Develop strong relationships with key reinsurance partners and brokers to support renewal placements, pricing, and value-added activities
  • Research and drive forward process and system improvements to increase the efficiency and availability of reinsurance data for analysis and monthly reporting
  • Lead and develop a team of reinsurance specialists to support the above activities

What do you bring to the role?

      •  University degree and CIP designation
      •  5+ years’ experience in insurance and reinsurance required including an in-depth knowledge of reinsurance products, treaty negotiations,
         and establishing relationships with reinsurers
      •  Experience in managing specialist teams and working in a public company are considered assets
      •  Strong excel, modelling, and presentation skills required
      •  Ability to work with ambiguity, create new solutions, and think analytically
      •  Ability to work across multiple functions and influence many stakeholders
      •  Ability to manage numerous deliverables, deadlines, and timetables
