TITLE/CODE:                          QA Specialist I

DEPARTMENT:                        Quality Assurance

 

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY 

Reporting to the Manager – Operational Support monitors specific aspects of the Quality System Program in Donor Collections for the proper documentation of technical and clerical errors, notifies appropriate managers of trends and provides or produces reports.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may be assigned.  Management retains the discretion to add to or change the duties of the position at any time.

 

  • Review and assess deviation incident reports and other documents from mobile and facility operations.
  • Provide appropriate supporting documentation to assist with review and investigation of incident reports.
  • Manage databases for deviation incident reports to ensure that incidents are investigated and handled in a timely manner, reports are current and information is consistent and accurate.
  • Assist in monitoring effectiveness of Quality Systems Programs including process improvement.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly reports on quality issues and forward to management in a timely manner.
  • Review and assess Donor/Visitor Incident reports, ensuring that donor records, reports and computer systems include the same evaluation result.
  • Maintain files of QC, Lot Release and procedure records.
  • Prepare and archive files, forms and documents as needed.

Attendance

Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in The Blood Center’s sole discretion.

Regular Hours

Full time: must be regularly available to work at least 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, or such other days or hours per week as The Blood Center determines are necessary to meet business needs.

Overtime (applicable only to non-exempt positions)

Must be available and willing to work such overtime per day or per week as The Blood Center determines is necessary or desirable to meet business needs.

Weekend and Holidays

Must be available and willing to work such weekends and holidays as The Blood Center determines are necessary or desirable to meet its business needs. 

 

 

On-Call

Must be available to be called in to work or to take and process phone calls while away from the work site.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school Diploma or GED (Associate Degree from an accredited college or university is strongly preferred); minimum two (2) years experience preferred in blood banking environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Experience must include working in a position involving frequent interaction with the public and the use of customer service skills.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS            

None

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret general business periodicals and technical procedures.  Ability to write reports and business correspondence.  Ability to respond to questions from managers, supervisors or staff members in a professional manner.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Must be able to form independent or unassisted conclusions and perform complete and thorough reviews of any document or form used while performing required job responsibilities, or ask for assistance with decision processes and reasoning.

 

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must be able to perform tasks and assignments independently and work with minimal supervision.

Ability to plan and manage tasks so that one day’s work is completed in one day.

Computer literate: Microsoft Office, SafeTrace, Business Objects and other programs as identified.
