Position Title: Education and Diversity Outreach Coordinator

Reporting to the Donor Recruitment Operations Coordinator, this position is responsible for developing relationships in the community and increasing donor presentation within the diverse ethnic groups in the area we service.  This position will educate, motivate and inspire community leaders and groups to serve as advocates of our mission. This position will be critical in helping increase donor diversity through planning, coordination and implementation of projects in partnership with Donor Recruitment Account Managers and Coordinators.

In this role, you will:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in diversity recruitment including representation, myths, and outreach initiatives.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and issues simultaneously.    
  • Identify areas and account types with the potential of growing donations.
  • Recruit, develop and train diverse community advocates to speak on the ongoing need for blood donations in their communities.
  • Identify best practice strategies for engaging diverse communities to partner with The Blood Center in achieving our Mission of Saving and Sustaining Lives.
  • Coordinate internal and external advocacy groups to assist with engaging and being present in events in diverse communities.
  • Demonstrate the ability to build effective relationships and influence diverse community organizations. 
  • Facilitate awareness and advocacy programs that engage organizations, partners, and donor participation.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with diverse leaders, local government and community organizations.

  • Monitor progress in the representation of all diverse populations in our donor base.
  • Serve as a representative for the blood center in external community diversity outreach initiatives. 
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.

 

We need someone who has:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university
  • Three or more years of related experience and/or training to include sales or marketing experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License and acceptable driving record.
  • Must have reliable vehicle to transport self to various donor and group sites (mileage reimbursed).
  • Demonstrated self-directive initiative to work with a wide range of people
  • Demonstrated success in providing comprehensive oversight over key initiatives
  • Ability to develop, plan and evaluate the effectiveness of diversity events impacting the donor base
  • Ability to complete speaking engagements in front of an audience.
