The 1199SEIU Training and Employment Funds (TEF) provide comprehensive training, education, and career pathways opportunities to unionized workers represented by 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East.  TEF is part of a family of 1199SEIU Funds, which provide health, pension, and quality of life benefits. We are among the largest labor-management funds in the nation, covering 400,000 members and their families.

 The Training and Employment Funds offer an array of services to frontline healthcare workers including the opportunity to advance in healthcare occupations through college degrees and other types of education. TEF also runs an Employment Center through which 1199SEIU members, and the general public can obtain jobs in healthcare, joint labor and management work designed to improve workplace cohesion and health outcomes, and job security programs for laid-off 1199SEIU members.

 If you’re ready for the brightest career future, join us in this excellent opportunity to showcase your talents.  We are currently seeking an experienced for Assistant Director, Workforce Development in our Skills Enhancement, Occupational Training and  Curriculum Development Department.

Responsibilities

 

·        Direct all aspects of training and education aligned to healthcare union and employer priorities 

·        Develop and implement innovative training and occupational skills programs for healthcare workers as part of a labor and management partnership

·        Collaborate with internal stakeholders across TEF healthcare sectors (acute and long-term care) as well as Fund projects in multiple states to understand their unique educational needs and design educational solutions for homecare, nursing home and hospital employers and their workforce

·        Engage and collaborate with external stakeholders such as education vendors, employer and union partners, and workforce entities

·        Oversee curriculum development for Training Fund programs targeting long-term care, acute care and community-based care facilities and workers

·        Catalog and streamline Training and Employment Fund (TEF) curricula and develop an eCurriculum library for all programs

·        Create a culture of continuous improvement of processes, procedures, and professional development to facilitate the delivery of high-quality Skills Enhancement, Occupational Training & Curriculum Development programs.

·        Conduct continuous evaluation and improvements of existing education programs in collaboration with other TEF departments

·        Monitor and evaluate education programs, teachers/facilitators and vendors

·        Oversee the supervision of program managers and staff, monitor budgets and engage stakeholders for the purpose of delivering high quality education services

·        Monitor changes in healthcare career credentialing and develop programs to ensure workers remain up to date

·        Participate in leadership activities with other Assistant Directors and serve on cross TEF committees and work groups

·        Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by management

 

Qualifications

 

·        Bachelor’s degree in Education, Health Care or related field required; Master’s Degree preferred

·        Minimum six (6) years’ experience in providing health care education programs and/or operating programs in a labor management environment required; four (4) years supervisory experience required

·        Knowledge of curriculum development and monitoring budgets

·        Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends; travel to various locations in New York Metropolitan area

·        Excellent writing, interpersonal, presentation and communication skills

·        Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, plan and coordinate work in a time sensitive environment
