Description

Position Overview:

The Planner is responsible for developing and managing production plans to support the corporate inventory strategy for both domestic and international customers to meet customer service and financial goals. The planner ensures that their plan manages their inventory accordingly to mitigate back orders and obsolescence and manages purchase orders with contract manufacturers across the nutrition, personal care and/or household goods industry. The purchase orders and plans are managed through Shaklee’s ERP system (BPCS). The Planner manages the relationship with contract manufacturer to ensure delivery against the commitments. Intermediate Excel skills are required.

Essential Functions:

  • Plan categories and place purchase orders with contract manufacturers for nutrition, personal care and/or household goods products for over 100 SKUs
  • Maintain inventory at target with contract manufacturers to mitigate back orders and avoid obsolescence
  • Partner with Contract Manufacturers to ensure on-time delivery, purchase order accuracy and to resolve issues and concerns
  • Support commercialization of new and reformulated products including building pipeline inventory and minimizing remnants
  • Identify, resolve and escalate supply chain risks including backorders and obsolescence, manufacturers’ performance and material and component shortages
  • Collaborate with Sourcing to strive for assurance of supply
  • Serve as liaison between Planning and International markets on inventory issues
  • Develop and manage Item Masters, BOMs, DRP relationships, and other planning parameters to ensure BPCS system integrity
  • Other related duties, as required and assigned

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of inventory planning experience, preferably in a consumer products or manufacturing company
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Strong analytical and intermediate Excel skills
  • Proven math skills and ability to work with high degree of accuracy
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of management
  • Ability to prioritize, handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Must be self-motivated and professional
  • Understanding and experience in dealing with international markets
  • APICS certification preferred

Key Competencies

  • Planning and scheduling dozens of products to maintain finished goods inventories at target
  • Strong ERP experience and ease in learning, navigating and leveraging the system’s capabilities
  • Managing supply chain partner relationships including contract manufacturers
  • Collaborating with departments such as Sourcing, Marketing, Product Development, Field Support and Sales
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel
  • Strong problem solving
  • Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly
