The Systems Engineer Sr. will operate and manage corporate-focused Microsoft Windows servers and services to ensure high levels of availability and security for the company. The role focuses specifically on managing the company's Active Directory and Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM) environments, which are at the core of our technology infrastructure. Must be legally authorized to work within country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B) now and/or in the future.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and manage Active Directory services, including domains, forests, trusts, replication, group policies, users, and groups.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for Active Directory-related issues, troubleshooting and resolving complex problems.
  • Collaborate with other teams to integrate Active Directory services with other systems and applications.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to the existing Active Directory infrastructure, keeping up with industry-standard processes and emerging technologies.
  • Lead projects related to Active Directory, including upgrades and restructuring, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Design, deploy, and maintain SCCM services to manage operating system/software deployments, updates, and configuration.
  • Develop and maintain SCCM task sequences, packages, applications, and software update groups to ensure efficient software deployment and compliance.
  • Create and maintain operating system images to be deployed via PXE boot and/or boot media. 
  • Implement and manage SCCM client health, inventory, and reporting for proactive monitoring, compliance, and troubleshooting.
  • Partner with the Service Desk and Security Operations team to implement endpoint protection policies, compliance settings, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Conduct testing of software deployments and updates in a controlled environment to ensure compatibility and minimize disruptions during production deployment. 
  • Develop and implement automation solutions using scripting languages such as PowerShell to automate repetitive tasks, provisioning, and configuration management.
  • Monitor system health, performance, and availability, promptly addressing issues to maintain optimal operations.
  • Provide expertise and guidance on best practices for system configuration, optimization, and performance tuning.
  • Create and maintain documentation, including standard operating procedures, architecture diagrams, and configuration guides.
  • Stay current with security trends and vulnerabilities, implementing measures to enhance security posture and mitigate risks.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and Microsoft product roadmaps to recommend and implement innovative solutions.
  • Provide mentorship and knowledge transfer to other team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
  • Access Infinite Campus product customer data and customer infrastructure as applicable while adhering to the practices and procedures outlined in the master security guidelines.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Desired Background

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or work-related experience.
  • 5+ years of experience designing, implementing, and managing modern Active Directory environments (Windows Server 2019+) in enterprise-level organizations.
  • 5+ years of experience administering and operating SCCM/MECM (Current Branch) in an enterprise environment, providing client management, software distribution, and update management services.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in automation tools and scripting languages such as PowerShell for automating tasks and processes.
  • Solid grasp of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Experience administering hosted Microsoft platforms (Azure, Exchange, M365, Intune, Entra ID, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of identity and access management principles, including LDAP, Kerberos, SAML, and multi-factor authentication (specifically, smart cards) is a plus.
  • Experience with other endpoint management technologies, such as Microsoft Intune or Jamf Pro, is a plus.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs., including bending, crouching, and kneeling when installing or accessing equipment.
