General Summary: 

The Clinical Practice Leader who seamlessly integrates their background as a Licensed Vocational Nurse, offers comprehensive staff guidance and collaboration in patient care, fostering strong relationships within the clinic team consisting of registered nurses, medical assistants, medical doctors, front office staff, and patient care representatives. The CPL manages and provides operational leadership to assigned areas of the MarinHealth Medical Network Ambulatory Clinics ensuring they meet the MarinHealth enterprise-wide goals and initiatives of safety, affordability, quality, satisfaction, and access. Plans and organizes operations and resources to ensure effective and efficient delivery of patient care consistent with best practices. Proactively manages policy and procedure, guaranteeing compliance with the clinic, affiliates, vendors, the MarinHealth enterprise, and state and federal regulatory agencies where applicable. Takes a strategic and tactical approach in identifying best practices, standardizing workflows, and proposing plans of action to implement changes. Implements and manages capital and operational budgets to achieve financial targets through the effective use of personnel, resources, and supplies. Develops and maintains a solid partnership with internal and external peers, leaders, and/or regulatory agencies to facilitate and collaborate on initiatives or solve issues. Provides guidance and/or direct intervention in resolving challenging or complex situations with an empathetic and solution-based approach. Accountable for role modeling principles defined by the C.A.R.E.S Standards, clinic or enterprise-wide initiatives, and the MarinHealth Mission, “To provide exceptional healthcare services in a compassionate and healing environment”.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: 

  • Manages the delivery of ambulatory patient care, ensuring efficient and high-quality care that meets clinical standards.
  • Facilitates patient care activities and participates in practice or center management operations to optimize overall performance.
  • Oversees clinic operational flow, including procedures and Apex In Basket management, ensuring patient safety and compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of operations in ambulatory settings and how departmental processes impact other areas across the network.
  • In-depth understanding of clinical workflows and the ability to manage operational clinic work, ensuring compliance with state, federal, and local regulations.
  • Keeps abreast of and implements new or changing patient care standards, policies, procedures, and programs to enhance care delivery and maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Proven leadership skills, including team building, coaching, and mentoring, with the ability to motivate and engage staff to improve clinical and patient care outcomes.
  • Collaborates with physicians, medical directors, and other key contributors to develop healthcare practice standards and service improvements.
  • Develops staff through collaborative decision-making, enhancing communication and clinical outcomes.
  • Ability to form strong relationships with physicians, medical directors, and other stakeholders, contributing to business objectives and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Represents assigned clinics on committees, contributing to program development and quality improvement.
  • Demonstrates tactical and analytical thinking, capable of developing plans to achieve objectives, identify obstacles, and resolve operational issues.
  • Manages patient care cost-effectively, including budgeting, staffing needs, and clinic performance monitoring.
  • Collaborates on fiscal planning and drafting business plans to enhance quality improvements and overall clinic performance.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational and time management skills, effectively prioritizing multiple projects while delivering quality service.
  • Exhibits excellent verbal and written communication, as well as interpersonal skills, fostering effective collaboration across the organization.

  • Delivers a strong customer service focus in all decisions and actions, prioritizing patient and staff satisfaction.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of operations in ambulatory setting and how the department’s process/workflow impacts other areas' operation throughout the Network.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all applicable state, federal, state licensing and other local regulations as they relate to ambulatory settings is required.
  • Ability to form relationships with physicians and medical directors, as well as, other key company contributors.
  • Proven leadership skills, including team building, and coaching/mentoring with the ability to motivate and engage others.
  • In-depth understanding of operations and clinical workflows.
  • Demonstrates tactical and analytical thinking and planning skills, and is able to develop a plan to accomplish objectives, identify obstacles, and resolve operational issues.

  • Knowledge/experience with electronic medical records or practice management systems. Use of EPIC/APeX software a plus.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's: Business Administration, Healthcare or related field or equivalent education/experience.
  • Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.

 

License & Certifications:

  • Licensed Vocational Nurse - The California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA)

 

Experience:

  • 3 - 5 years’ supervisory and/or management experience in an ambulatory healthcare setting, including but not limited to, budgets, fiscal management, and revenue cycle.

The compensation for this role listed on this posting is in compliance with applicable law.  The selected candidate’s compensation will be determined based on the individual’s skills, experience, internal/market equity factors, and qualifications.  This posted minimum and maximum range represents the minimum and maximum of what we reasonably expect to compensate for the position.  Furthermore, all compensation decisions are ultimately determined in accordance with our compensation philosophy.  Compensation for positions covered by collective bargaining agreements are governed by the agreements in the aforementioned document.
