Job Summary

The Senior Scientist will maintain the FIB-SEM microscope, train new users, and develop workflows to streamline the data processing of cellular cryo-electron tomography.

Essential Job Duties

  • Set up and maintain the FIB-SEM microscope.
  • Train new users, including other staff members, students, and postdoctoral scholars.
  • Develop workflow for cryoET data processing while working on specific biological projects. Examples include flagella and plant cell walls.
  • May design, fabricate/construct test instrumentation and/or apparatus required for special research projects.
  • May coordinate the ordering, processing, restocking of lab supplies, equipment, animals and maintain general organization of lab.
  • May maintain, troubleshoot, and repair laboratory equipment and/or instruments, and/or schedule external engineer repair of the instrument.

Basic Qualifications

  • Master’s degree with 8 years of relevant scientific research experience with cryoEM.
  • Must have prior experience in cryoEM for sample preparation, data collection, and data processing.
  • Must be diligent and responsible for their own work.
  • Must have excellent communication and customer service skills, working with faculty, postdocs, students, and research staff.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. preferred.

Hiring Range

$90,000 - $145,000 Per Year

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
