Job Summary

The Research Technician, Assistant will work with Prof. Kaihang Wang and lab to help model and simulate the movement of linear dsDNA molecule in 3D and 2D space to help support lab’s research. The successful candidate will perform a variety of duties to help with the publication of work.

Essential Job Duties

  • Under general supervision, works from verbal and/or written instructions and established operating procedures to accomplish routine assignments.
  • Applies basic knowledge of scientific methods and select techniques to assist research efforts.
  • May assist research group with basic configuration and testing of scientific protocols and computer software used for research/experiments.
  • May assist research group in analyzing research data using specific software applications.
  • May participate in providing feedback towards the effectiveness of standard operating procedures.
  • Applies basic technical skills in research services; selects from standard operating procedures, techniques, tools, materials, and laboratory equipment appropriate to accomplish tasks.
  • Performs routine research and analytical functions requiring application of standard scientific methods, techniques, protocols, and experimental procedures.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of the operation of various scientific instruments, equipment, and devices.
  • Applies basic knowledge of policies and practices to research assignments.
  • May require knowledge of various computers (e.g., Personal Computers, MAC) and relevant software (e.g., Word, Excel, graphics, Internet Explorer, Web tools, Access) and various statistical and scientific applications.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Applied Math, or a related field.
  • Strong mathematical fundamentals and algorithms skills or experience.
  • Excellent programming, debugging, performance analysis, and test design skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and documentation habits.

Hiring Range

$18.00 - $24.00 Per Hour

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
