As a Formulation Chemist II for Adhesives and Repair, you will research and develop cement-based adhesives in specialty areas of high-performance concrete repair, employing advancements such as fiber-reinforcement, lightweight mixtures, shrinkage control and other techniques focused on durability of concrete structures.

Responsibilities

New product Development

  • Develop and evaluate new products in the field of cement, resinous and emulsion (dispersion) chemistry for a variety of end-uses, utilizing professional chemical background and accepted company and industry procedures and techniques, in line with specific project requirements.

Analytical Testing

  • Apply knowledge of cement, concrete and aggregate testing with respect to current ASTM, AASHTO, ACI, and EPA standards .

Cross -Functional collaboration

  • Exhibit detailed understanding of the market and competitive products.  Provide technical support and conduct product demonstrations for marketing and sales.

ISO 9001 Quality Management and Safety Compliance

  • Check and calibrate lab equipment on a regular basis. If instruments are out of calibration, return them to the manufacturer for repair.  Perform regular duties such as verifying oven and freezer temperatures. Maintain clean and safe work area.

Record keeping

  • Keep detailed records of work performed (lab notebook), write Completion Reports when projects are finished, enter raw materials and formulas into Product Vision.

Miscellaneous R&D Related Functions

  • Evaluate laboratory needs, equipment, testing, and quality requirements to ensure accurate analytical testing as required for regular and special projects.   

 

Qualifications

  • BS in Science with courses in organic chemistry
  • 3-7 years of relevant experience
  • Some travel required
