Title: Trade Compliance Data Specialist I
Location:  India
 
The mission of the Technical Data Group is to provide the most accurate and complete data for design engineers sourcing components on Mouser.com. The group performs data collection for Semiconductors, Electronic Components, Supplies and Equipment utilizing manufacturer datasheets and websites.
The Trade Specialist – India performs technical data research, assessment, and collection of Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS Codes), Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN’s) for the United States and Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS Codes) and ECCN type codes (ECCN) of other countries for the electronic products Mouser distributes.

ACCOUNTABILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Performs technical data research, assessment and acquisition using the Internet, supplier websites, search engines, spreadsheets, or internal databases to determine the correct HTS code and ECCN Code.
  • Reviewing product descriptions and technical data to determine import / export classification in accordance with the published Schedule (HTS) Schedules and other approved resources for Import/Export compliance.
  • Research and audit import / export invoices and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Assign appropriate Harmonized Tariff Codes (HTS), and Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN’s) to all purchased and sold electronic products.
  • Interpret Customs rulings, explanatory notes, and technical product drawing to determine correct classifications.
  • Performs technical data research, assessment to determine the correct HTS code and basic ECCN Code to all purchased and sold electronic products.
  • Review product descriptions and technical data to determine import / export classification in accordance with the published Schedule (HTS) Schedules and other approved resources for Import/Export compliance. Enter classification codes as per approved documentation standards.
  • Administer internal audit processes to ensure accurate classifications and oversee record keeping related to Import / Export logistics and compliance along with providing classification research assistance for audits and customs requests.
  • Research and audit Import / Export invoices and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Interpret Customs rulings, explanatory notes, and technical product drawing to determine correct classifications.
  • Develop and maintain standard work for the classification process while maintaining a classification database with legal references and audit notes.
  • Determine application of Participating Government Agency (PGA) regulations for applicable HTS codes and ECCN’s for Imports/Exports.
  • Communicates and interacts effectively with individuals and groups inside the organization and external suppliers.
  • Represents the company in a professional manner.
  • Ability to be extremely confidential and trustworthy.

SKILLS & CERTIFICATIONS

  • Electronic Design, Systems Design, Test Engineering, or Electronic Component Engineering experience required.
  • Experience in Harmonized Tariff Schedule, Technical Services, trade compliance analyst,   HTS code assignment, Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN’s).
  • Read, analyze and interpret scientific and technical documents
  • Able to quickly learn new software application and adapt to project related process changes.
  • Detailed and thorough in work habits with high multi-tasking and organizational skills.
  • PC experience in a Microsoft Windows environment, proficient with internet e-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Outlook and other software.
  • Detailed and thorough in work habits with multi-tasking ability.
  • Must be fluent in the English language, both verbal and written.
Requirements:
  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Electrcial/Electronics or any equivalent discipline.
  • Requires a fresher or 1 year of previous experience in HTS and ECCN.
