|Work Hours:||7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.|
DUTIES: Inspect, diagnose and locate mechanical problems on city automobiles, motorcycles, and a variety of small engine equipment including lawnmowers, and weed eaters. Overhaul, repair, and adjust engines, transmissions, differentials, clutches, chainsaws, and other related equipment. Repair, adjust and replace brake systems including disc, hydraulic and air brakes. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: MUST FURNISH REPAIR/ HAND TOOLS. Two years of experience performing minor and major vehicle and equipment repair duties compatible with that of a Mechanic I in the City of Jackson. Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade; supplemented by specialized training in vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair. Valid driver’s license AND Possession of the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT FOR CITY EMPLOYEES: Within six (6) months from date of employment, must establish residency within the City of Jackson.
PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT, APPLICANT RECOMMENDED FOR EMPLOYMENT SHALL BE REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY PASS A URINALYSIS AND/OR BLOOD TEST TO SCREEN FOR ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUG ABUSE.
