|Work Hours:||7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.|
Duties: Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise and review the work of staff at the landfill. Fill in when work crews are short-staffed; operate equipment including motor graders, backhoes, tractors, dump trucks, and other related equipment. Answer questions and provide information to the public; investigate complaints and recommend corrective action as necessary to resolve complaints. May work evenings or weekends as staffing shortage or emergencies dictate. Participate in the selection of landfill staff; discipline procedures. Maintain records and files of work performed; prepare various reports on operations and activities. Recommend work; assist in the preparation of request for new equipment; review recommendations with Superintendent. Maintain accurate records of attendance, work performed, the time required for each job and materials and equipment used. Ensure the adherence to safe work practices by assigned maintenance personnel. Inspect work crews at the job site; identify problems and make recommendations for changes or adjustments as necessary; stay abreast of regulations, trends and innovations in the field of solid waste, especially landfill monitoring, rubbish filling. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Possession of or ability to obtain an appropriate valid driver's license. Three years of experience in a para-professional capacity in compliance with solid waste regulations or in related activities.
