|Work Hours:||8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.|
Duties: To obtain solid waste collection complaints from appropriate offices; respond to and investigate complaints from the public; meet with residents; report findings to Supervisor and solid waste employees; verify solid waste services disability exemptions; make appropriate recommendations for special services; investigate illegal dumping complaints; report findings to Supervisor, explain city ordinance related to solid waste collection, enforce and ensure compliance with city ordinance; mediate property owners and contractor complaints and disputes; determine and recommend resolutions within solid waste guidelines and policies; work with other departments and organizations to investigate and resolve solid waste collection complaints; concerns or problems; maintain records on complaints investigated; prepare reports on findings and recommendations; ability to interpret and explain city solid waste collection policies and procedures, pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulations; work independently in the absence of supervision.
Qualifications: Three years of responsibilities experience working with the public including experience in mediation and resolve public complaints. Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade, possession of or ability to obtain an appropriate valid State of Mississippi driver's license.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT FOR CITY EMPLOYEES:
Within six (6) months from date of employment, must establish residence within the City of Jackson.
PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT, APPLICANT RECOMMENDED FOR EMPLOYMENT SHALL BE REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY PASS A URINALYSIS AND/OR BLOOD TEST TO SCREEN FOR ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUG ABUSE.
