Description

Duties: To manage, supervise, and coordinate the programs and activities of the Solid Waste Division within the Public Works Department, to coordinate assigned activities with other city departments, divisions, and outside agencies; and to provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Public Works Director. Design, develop and implement a recycling program. Provide and coordinate staff training. Monitor compliance with Federal and State landfill regulations; review and maintain records on operations and activities at the landfill. Respond to and resolve difficult and sensitive citizen inquiries and complaints related to solid waste operations and activities. Prepare and administer a budget.

 

Qualifications: Eight(8)years of increasingly responsible experience working in either Solid Waste Management, recycling or a related field, including three years of supervisory or administrative responsibility. Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, business administration or a related field. Possession of or ability to obtain an appropriate, valid driver's license.

 

 

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT FOR CITY EMPLOYEES:

Within six (6) months from date of employment, must establish residence within the City of Jackson.

PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT, APPLICANT RECOMMENDED FOR EMPLOYMENT SHALL BE REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY PASS A URINALYSIS AND/OR BLOOD TEST TO SCREEN FOR ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUG ABUSE.
