Sr. Business Systems Analyst

To perform a variety of responsible professional duties and responsibilities involved in designing , implementing and maintaining new applications systems and upgrading and/or maintaining existing systems; to serve as technical consultant and liaison between non - technical users in assigned functional or u se r areas; and, to provide lead supervision over subordinate professional and technical staff. Exercises functional and technical supervision over lower level professional and technical staff. Perform functional analysis to define sys tems requirements . Interact with functional area experts to develop an understanding of busines s implications for the application system. Co nduct interview s and facilitate group meetings with users and other non - technical s taff. Remain on - call as needed after hours, including nights and weekends, when as s igned as liaison with department superiors. Participate on t e ams of technical staff and end - users in the definition of sys tem s requirements including processing, reporting, data and performance requirement s. Test application systems at various levels to ensure performance of components . Re s pond to end - u se r que s tions concerning software and hardware requirement s and capabilities. Assist in the preparation of functional specifications to meet u se r busine ss needs . Ass i st in design of test data to ensure resulting system meets user need s. Perform various levels of application testing to ensure system produces correct result s. Develop user documentation, including system reference manuals and training materials. Assign, supervise and revise the work of subordinate professional and technical staff; train staff in the processes and procedures of information technology; assist in the preparation and conduct of employee performance evaluations .

Qualifications: Six (6) years of increasingly responsible experience in the design, implementation, management and maintenance of databases and database system applications. Equivalent to a Bachelor 's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer sc ience, information systems or a related field . Experience with Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 Experience with Microsoft Active Directory. 5+Years experience with querying an Oracle or Microsoft Database using SQL
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT FOR CITY EMPLOYEES:
Within six (6) months from date of employment, must establish residency within the City of Jackson.
PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT, APPLICANT RECOMMENDED FOR EMPLOYMENT SHALL BE REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY PASS A URINALYSIS AND/OR BLOOD TEST TO SCREEN FOR ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUG ABUSE.
